Welp, it’s been a few years but FronteraFest — my old stomping ground — is back.
I’m not really ready for it. I feel like an out-of-shape boxer asked to step back into the ring after retirement. BUT I’m in for a penny (actually, three pennies) and basically in for a (or three) pound/s.
Here’s what’s coming up, all in short order:
- Wednesday, Feb 1: The folks at Summer Break Theatre are bringing back an edited-down-version of The Dating Project
- Friday, Feb 3: I’m producing and managing (sort of pseudo-directing) a production of my 2019 14/48 play Snickerdoodles & Disco with friends from The Pact, 14/48 and the reading of A Million More to Go
- Thursday, Feb 9: I’m doing something I never thought I’d do, something that seemed like a good idea in concept in my head – I’m performing a piece in partnership with my very own dad called The Size of his Shoes
I’m mostly comfortable with the first two (though there’s still work to do and production elements to figure out) but the last one has me slightly petrified. I still haven’t shared the full script with my father, in part because it uses pieces of his biography I’m not sure he’s comfortable with me presenting to the world.
On the other hand, he DID read my diary a while back, so…. Maybe I’m overthinking it.
Anyway, come see one or two or three of these if you can and want! The show lineup is at the Hyde Park Theatre website under the Short Fringe link. Tickets are another link away from there.
See you in a couple of weeks! I predict a Wild Card Best of Fest slot for Snickerdoodles. Not sure about the other ones yet. Time. Will. Tell.
Loved “your new ceo” at shortfringe. So spot on!
Ahhh thank you so much for finding me and letting me know! It was so fun to do in that crowd. So warm. Wasn’t sure how it’d be received. 🙂
