Hey look, I’m a veteran this year (not a virgin)!
11:02pm: The theme for the night is Emotional Hangovers. Nice and broad, but leaves a lot of options as well.
I’ve got characters named Man1 and Man2 in this one, really working hard to come up with something unique.
They’re talking in a not-really-talking-to-each-way from a distance. Keeping it sparse and a little mysterious, trying to incorporate some creepy soundscape-y stuff.
That’s all I’ve got for now. Cautiously optimistic that I’m on to something…
12:02am: And now so many doubts. Is it too dumb? Is it too predictable? Does it make any sense?
I think I might be rushing it. Is it about men and relationships? The way guys talk to each other when women aren’t around?
Does the ending work? Trying too hard to be a punchline?
Ugh…
5:00am: I gave in and got a few hours of sleep. The piece reads okay. Not exactly a killer ending but it could be good. Going with it. Printing…
POST-PRODUCTION UPDATE: Hey, it went over really well. Jaime and the cast did really well with it, a lot of laughs, and absurdity too. Wish I had realized the ending a bit more. But a good show. B+ writing, baby!
