Some notes on next steps for April’s show:
- 3 or 4 main sections where we could put stuff on (see red in diagram)
- Entry way for opening bit
- Then long hallway for some theatrical stuff
- Then an outdoor patio for musicians
- Possibly the garden area for something else
- Start in entry way with musical skit
- Ask band to participate in some “mistake” bit, thinking the benefit is for peacocks, not people; they protest
- Lead audience over to story-telling location
- Walk through a room where actors are changing; cause a ruckus; drama!
- Later, emerge outside to see full band performing
- Maybe a tiered pricing scheme like:
- $20 to come and get a seat
- $15 to come but bring your own folding chair
- $10 to come and stand only
- Will require audience to move from space to space during show; any mobility issues with this to consider? Or just ensure it’s in promotional info?
- Types of entertainment:
- Music (Possum Posse, Luna Tart, ????)
- Storytelling (3 of them?)
- Poetry/performers (2 of them?)
- Plays/monologues (2 of them?)
- What else could work in the space:
- Catered food/deserts
- Drinks (may not work depending on insurance requirements)
- Raffle (for what?)
- Art on display (who?)
- Auction (if can get something together, maybe not)
- Interactive activities (Cards Against Humanity for the kids? Kidding!); pin the tail on the peacock?
- Need to sort out the beneficiary; obviously just a modest donation, so where would it have most punch*? Suggestions so far:
- Southern Poverty Law Center
- ACLU
- NARAL
- Planned Parenthood
- Out Youth
- Autism Society
- National Domestic Violence Hotline
- Environment Texas
- Something regional or local would likely have biggest impact, think it through; no shortage of groups needing support these days
- Rough dates to sort stuff out
- Finalize insurance pieces by end of Feb
- Poster design ideas by end of Feb
- Artist lineup by mid-March
- Press releases by mid-March
- Submit marketing info by mid-March
- Sort out all details (art, props, timing, by end of March)
Okay, it’s doable. Keep it in mind in the coming weeks and start knocking stuff out…
* if I ever run for office in a conservative district, this list could raise eyebrows
[…] if this Peacock show comes together, I’m hoping we can maybe do it one more time […]
