I think I’m going to have the opportunity to meet with one of the producers of Shelter Theater in San Miguel de Allende at the end of this month to talk about a show we might be able to bring down to them next year.
I know Raul produced MEXPATRIATE there earlier this year and had a really good experience.
We don’t have something finalized right now, though. The requirements, as I see them, are:
- One male actor, one female actor
- They have some kind of non-romantic relationship
- Piece lasts roughly an hour and uses a projector and screen setup
- Includes alternating solo bits mingled with conversations together
Want to see if something I’ve done before at FF could be expanded to make work here.
Ideas for relationships between two characters are:
- Patient and therapist (neurotic patient and therapist with his/her own demons)
- Political candidate and advisor
- Maybe half-sister/half-brother situation where they’re trying to figure out what to do with a parent or parents that they’re not close to
- Work environment with an employee/manager setup
I’d really love to do something political (timely) but worry there’s been too much political drama/satire lately. (though of course the other conceits have been done too)
You got about 2 weeks to think about it and get it agreed, dude. It should be something that could be put on/mounted elsewhere as well.
(also submitted proposals to places in Eugene, OR and Bloomington, IN).
So… whatcha got??
