Good question.
Had a bunch of people over, commissioned a great sign from my friend Doug, had snacks and beer and wine. A bit of a party.
I was happy with it, thought the play was well received, was really flattered that the actors I wanted to read could all make it.
So now what?
It was a little bit of a proof of concept, I guess. Could I create an event and a pseudo-theater in a small space and have it be a success?
On that scale, absolutely.
Am I willing to take it to the next level and have a running theatrical event, do the marketing, host rehearsals, convince actors to make a full commitment?
That I don’t know. It’s a lot of time and effort, and probably at least some expense. And it’s exhausting, at least to me. Especially weathering the reactions to the piece itself, which is always a bit of a roller coaster.
Though I do like a challenge.
Hmm.
Letting it rest for the time being. Now I’m just happy it worked, happy I have evidence that it actually happened and will see how I feel about the piece later in the summer. Part of it may depend on what comes up next, how bored I am, etc.
