Bridging the Digital Divide (sorta)

One sort of unexpected development out of all this Covid business is that it’s inspired me to help get my dad and sister up on some kind of platform that allows for video calls. My dad just got an iPad a few months ago. It’s been an occasional struggle to get it to behave. My sister, meanwhile, has been in a kind of lockdown in her residence in California, so we haven’t been able to see her in person since the winter.

I was able to set up a Zoom call with the two of them (with an assist from the residence directors) and now we can actually see each other on an occasional call. Not exactly rocket science, but a big deal for me, considering various familial technical challenges. Here’s a screenshot from our first conference call. Can’t believe it worked! Hey now!
