First Meetings

The bridge that plays a big role in tonight’s story

Had initial meetings this week with the production teams for two upcoming events, and they were both super helpful.

1. On Saturday I met with Sharon Sparlin who will be directing this piece for the annual Out of Ink production at Hyde Park Theater which opens the last week of April.

She has great ideas for costumes, staging and tone; and she fact-checked questionable proclamations I’d made about the age of basalt rock on the moon, and the ability for planets to be affected by others’ temperature.

That play is in excellent hands, and we’ve got a great cast lined up too. Woohoo!

2. On Sunday I met with Kate, Mick and Paul with Testify for the show that’s happening tonight!

This was the least prepared I’d ever been for a story show. I didn’t have a real ending and was struggling with some of the content in the middle.

The three of them were a great blend of encouraging and critical, and I’ve come away from the meeting with a confidence boost and a better sense for how to wrap the thing up.

Confidence is the main thing here. Getting their feedback was crucial to giving me a sense about how it’d go and to keep me from questioning myself too, too much.

I HAD also told the story to my 11-yo in the car on the way to a soccer game over the weekend, but I needed a little adult feedback too.

Thanks, all; see you tonight and beyond…
